Hello!
Hello!
My love of photography goes back about as far as I can remember. As a kid I loved playing with my parents’ 35mm camera on family vacations. The fact that I could capture anything I wanted absolutely blew my tiny young mind. Before leaving on a class trip in 6th grade, my parents gave me my own camera. It wasn’t anything fancy, but it was my own and it was the coolest thing ever.
In high school I took every photography class that I could. Most of the focus was on film since this was the late 90s and digital was in its infancy. We’re talking 3.5” floppy disks with .3 megapixel images. So much technology! I wasn’t too into the digital thing at the time since I already knew my way around a darkroom from spending summer days helping my mom develop printing plates for the commercial print shop where she worked. Plus, listening to some tunes while hanging out in the dark and developing a physical piece of art was way more fun than watching a pixelated blob slowly emerge from a printer.
In my 20s, my newfound hobby of urban exploration took my love of photography to an entirely new level. Going on adventures in abandoned buildings and capturing their forgotten and decaying beauty was my new obsession.
Over the following years, I started getting requests from friends to do their engagement and family photos. This was way outside of my comfort zone, but I was excited to learn new ways to be creative and share my hobby with people that I care about. I love being able to help people capture their important milestones and family moments!
I owe a ton thanks to my friends and family for helping me realize my potential. I never really thought that my photography would bring happiness to others, but now that it has, I love it even more.
